Sönke Knutzen (born February 8, 1966 in Itzehoe ) is a German vocational school teacher , professor of “Technology, Work Processes and Vocational Education” and, since 2012, Vice President Teaching at the Hamburg University of Technology .

Life

From 1983 to 1986, Knutzen trained as an electrician. He then began studying electrical engineering in 1987 at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, today's HAW , with a focus on automation technology, from which he graduated in 1992 as a graduate engineer. From 1992 to 1996 he studied teaching for the upper level and vocational schools at the University of Hamburg and the Technical University of Hamburg .

From 1996 to 2001, Knutzen was a research associate in the "Process Technology and Vocational Training" department. In 2001 he received his doctorate on the subject of innovation competence in the craft at the TUHH .

From 2001 to 2006 Knutzen was a partner in a media agency with a focus on e-learning .

Knutzen is married, has one child and lives in Hamburg.

Act

In 2003, Knutzen was offered a position as junior professor for building system technology and media technology at the newly founded "Institute for Technology, Work Processes and Vocational Education" that emerged from the working group. Knutzen has been the head of the institute since 2009. In May 2015, the institute was renamed “Institute for Technical Education and University Didactics”, thus following the orientation in research and teaching with a focus on technical education and university didactics.

In April 2012, Knutzen was appointed to the position of Vice President for Teaching at the TUHH as the successor to Dieter Krause . The term of office is three years. As part of a new didactic focus, interdisciplinary Bachelor projects and an eight-semester Bachelor course were developed. In April 2015 he was confirmed for a second term.

In 2013, Knutzen received the German educational media prize “digita” in the “Vocational Education and Study” category for the “Electrical Crafts Competence Workshop” project.

Knutzen is the initiator of the Hamburg Open Online University (HOOU), which was launched in spring 2015 . Since 2015 he has also been a member of the “Change Management & Organizational Development” topic group at the University Forum Digitization initiated in 2014 by the Center for University Development, University Rectors ' Conference and Stifterverband , which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research .
