The Südbad is an indoor pool in downtown Dortmund . The building, which was renovated in 2007, is listed as a monument in the city of Dortmund's list of monuments.

The Südbad was built between 1957 and 1960 as Dortmund's first indoor swimming pool after the war. The pool has a 50-meter track suitable for competitions, a 10-meter diving platform and a grandstand. Olympic qualifications and German championships were held in the sports pool . Numerous swimming records were set in the Südbad.

In the basement of the swimming pool, the Dortmunders without a bathroom had shower and tub cubicles for body cleaning. In the course of the renovation work from 2003 to 2007, these were removed apart from a few cabins. The cabins that have been preserved are in their original condition.

The architecture of the building is characterized by reinforced concrete and the completely glass east facade. In the building there is a wall tile mosaic based on a design by Harry Fränkel .

The bath was closed between 2003 and 2007 and was extensively renovated. Today the pool with eight lanes and a 50-meter stainless steel pool is once again a contemporary competition venue, but it is also used for school and popular sports. The grandstand offers space for 500 people.

In 2009 the Südbad was the central venue for the Open Monument Day .

The first international championship after the extensive renovation work was the 10th European Swimming Championship for the Deaf in 2010 from June 20 to 26, 2010. Athletes from 17 European countries took part.
