The Süddeutsche Radfahrer-Bund eV was founded on August 17, 1902 under the name of the Süddeutsch-Schweizerischer Radfahrer-Verband and celebrated its 25th business year in 1927. Longstanding 1st chairman was Rupert Martin, who in 1905 took the lead in what was then South German-Switzerland. Cyclists Association was chosen. Rupert Martin held the office of First Chairman until at least 1932.

The founding clubs were Velo-Club Konstanz , Radfahrer-Verein Konstanzia Konstanz, Velo-Club Singen , Radler-Club Pfullendorf , Velo-Club Vorwärts Radolfzell and other club representatives from Kreuzlingen, Bohlingen, Worblingen, Schlatt and Wahlwies. In 1905 the “fortnightly support for members in the event of bicycle accidents”, “legal protection” and “free traffic with Austria” are introduced as federal economic institutions .

In 1912 the name was changed to Süddeutscher Radfahrer-Bund eV Rupert Martin: "All Swiss clubs had to withdraw." Previously, defamation and the withdrawal of border relief had repeatedly led to conflicts. At the end of 1917, the South German Cyclists Association was dissolved due to the war. In April 1919 the board decided to re-establish the company.

The federal newspaper Süddeutscher Radfahrer was published in Radolfzell in 1920 . In the years 1925 to 1928 the federal organ appeared on the 15th of each month in Donaueschingen as the place of publication. The printing was done by the Simon brothers' book and art print shop and Rupert Martin's editorial team.

After the First World War, the Black Forest Cyclists Association had already joined the Southern German Cyclists Association, wrote Rupert Martin as federal chairman in the special edition of the Southern German Cyclist on May 1, 1920 with a view to the "understanding and union" with the "earlier competition" . On May 9, 1920, the general assembly of the South German Cyclists 'Association in Singen finally discussed a possible merger with the Upper Baden Cyclists' Association . A joint meeting of the committees of both groups had previously taken place in Singen. As early as October 1919, committees of both cycling associations had negotiated the union. Instead of the proposed name Süddeutsche Radfahrer-Bund , the common name should be Südwestdeutscher Radfahrer-Bund . Finally, the majority of the general meeting rejected the merger.

The South German Cyclists Association also had associated federal rest stops .

  • 1914/17: 7,000 members in "over 200" associations
  • 1919: 1,000
  • 1927: 10,000 members. In the 25th anniversary year, new members were "free of admission" and were exempt from the admission fee of 50 pfennigs.

Motorcycle Club of the South German Cyclists Association

The Süddeutsche Motorradfahrer-Club was founded on August 14, 1927 with effect from January 1, 1928 in Donaueschingen and offered its members accident, liability and legal protection. Motorcyclists should be members of the local federal associations.
