occupation

SOS - Charter Boat (original title: Riptide ) is an Australian television series with 26 episodes, which was first broadcast in 1969.

action

Moss Andrews is only called "American" by everyone, although it has been a few years since he came to Australia as an American. He was actually a successful businessman in his home country, but when his wife was killed in a car accident, he crossed the ocean alone with his yacht “Safari” and then simply stayed in Australia.

The destination Australia was no coincidence, because his father-in-law Barney is the owner of the company “Charter Boat” in the north of Sydney and is on the verge of bankruptcy. With the help of Moss Andrews, the student Neal Winton and the "Safari", however, business can continue. These consist essentially of fishing trips for Sydney businessmen, but the water also features shady people, and Moss Andrews is the kind of person who doesn't turn a blind eye to what should only be the police's business.

consequences

All 26 episodes produced by Ralph Smart and photographed by cinematographer Carl Kayser were shot in 1968 and broadcast in 1969 by the Australian broadcaster Seven Network .

The German first broadcast began on January 8, 1972 on ZDF in competition with the sports show on Saturday, but until May comprised only 20 episodes in a different order to the original. The German version was created in the Alster Studios in Hamburg under the direction of Kurt E. Ludwig , Ingeborg Grunewald and Erich Ebert . The German voice actor for Ty Hardin was Horst Stark . The remaining six episodes did not run until 1996 on the regional broadcaster TV.München .
