SUN Project is a psychedelic trance act from Hamburg .
Career
Originally it was a heavy metal trio: Marco Menichelli played bass guitar , McCoy drums and Matthias Rumöller guitar . In 1992 they traveled to Goa , India . At the time, they did not know that Goa existed as a style of music . When they went to parties there, they got to know this style and then began to develop Goa trance with synthesizers and computers .
SUN Project was launched in 1996. In the same year they signed a contract for two long players with the music label Spirit Zone Recordings , which was founded in 1994 by DJ Antaros.
Their music is often psychedelic trance (also Goa trance) supported by heavy metal guitars. An example of the guitar sound is the song Dance Of The Witches (Fire Mix) or 380 volts . However, tracks were also produced that did not contain any guitars. An example is the title Hangin 'around , or nearly to Ambient going from dusk till dawn .
In addition to SUN Project, there were also a few other projects. "CONSequencer" is McCoy's project, who composed the song and recorded it in the studio, but was not part of the gigs. "Slap" is McCoy and Marco Menichelli's project, which has since fallen asleep, from which a CD emerged. "Ouija" was also a project of the two, where a well-known scene DJ was present on every track. The result is two CDs.
Marco Menichelli single-handedly released a solo CD and various EP's; he also appears as a DJ at many international parties. Nina Hagen also had guest appearances , among others on We Are in Space , Endless and Dance Of The Witches (video).
In autumn 2011 McCoy left the SUN Project and started his follow-up project, McCoy's SUN Project . Marco Menichelli and Matthias Rumöller continue to produce as SUN Project and also perform under these names, often with Björn Kempcke as the drummer.
