SAIC GM Wuling , or SGMW for short , is a manufacturer of automobiles from the People's Republic of China . Other sources mention SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile , SAIC-GM Wuling Automobile, and Shanghai-GM Wuling Automobile .
prehistory
In 1958, Liuzhou Power Machining Factory was established in Liuzhou . This became Liuzhou Tractor Factory in 1966 , Liuzhou Mini Vehicle Factory in 1985 and Liuzhou Wuling Automobile in 1998 . These companies manufactured Liuzhou brand tractors and, from 1982, pick-ups . In 1991 small commercial vehicles and passenger cars of the Wuling brand were added. In January 2001, SAIC Motor took over a large stake in the company and renamed it SAIC Wuling Automobile . In contrast, today's company states July 19, 2001 as the date this company was founded.
Company history
In November 2002 a new company was founded. The company itself and Bloomberg LP name November 18, 2002. SAIC with 50.1%, General Motors with 34% and Liuzhou Wuling Automobile with the remaining 15.9% were involved. Another source says it was General Motors China . According to General Motors China, the following percentages were in force in July 2020: 50.1% SAIC Motor, 44% General Motors China and 5.9% Guangxi Automobile Group (previously Wuling).

The company continues to use the already established brand name Wuling. In 2010 the own brand Baojun was introduced.
