The club was founded on July 1, 1926, as a branch club of Sporting Lisbon with the number 27.
Campomaiorense played the first time in the 1995/96 season, then from 1997/98 to 2000/2001 in the Portuguese Primeira Liga , the top division in Portuguese football . After the 2001/2002 season, the sponsor withdrew and SC Campomaiorense then reported no more team for the 2002/2003 season in the second Portuguese league, although the club was athletically qualified.
