Stanimir Stoilow ( bulg . : Станимир Стоилов; born February 13, 1967 in Chaskovo ) is a Bulgarian football coach and former player.

Career as a player

Stoilow began his career as a teenager at home FK Chaskowo, where he stayed until 1990. From July 1990 to June 1992 the defender was under contract with Levski Sofia for the first time and won the Bulgarian Cup in both seasons . In the 1992/93 season he played for the first time abroad at Fenerbahçe Istanbul , but returned home after just one year and joined CSKA Sofia . Again after only one season he came for another season to Levski, with whom he was Bulgarian champion this time. He then played for the Portuguese club SC Campomaiorense and then returned to Sofia again, this time to Slavia . 1998 began his third and so far last time with Levski, as a player and from July 2000 also as an assistant coach. Twice, in 2000 and 2002, he was able to celebrate the double of championship and cup victory, as well as the championship in 2001 and the cup victory in 2003.

Career as a coach

In the 2003/04 season Stoilow was briefly active as a coach of the U-19 national team. In 2004 he became the head coach of Levski, which began another successful period for the club. In 2005 the club won the cup and the Supercup and qualified for the UEFA Cup , in which the team was only eliminated in the quarter-finals against Schalke 04 . In 2006 Levski became champions and became the first Bulgarian team to qualify for the group stage of the Champions League . So far, the most successful year for Stoilow and Lewski was 2007: The team again won the double and the Supercup.

From April to June 2007 he was also the successor to Christo Stoitschkow interim coach of the Bulgarian national team , which he supervised in two qualifying games for Euro 2008 . His record as national coach is flawless: the team won both games against Belarus .

In May 2008, Stoilow was fired as a trainer at Levski Sofia. In the summer of 2008 he took over as a trainer at Litex Lovetsch . On January 30, 2009, he was reappointed Bulgaria's national coach after Plamen Markov was fired in December 2008. He held this post until 2010 when he threw in the towel and was replaced by Lothar Matthäus .

In the winter of 2010/2011 Stoilow took over the Cypriot association Anorthosis Famagusta , but was replaced by Ronny Levy in early October 2011 .

In 2014, the Bulgarian became head coach at FK Astana from the Kazakh premier league. This led to four championship titles in 2014 , 2015 , 2016 and 2017 . With Stoilow, FK Astana achieved the greatest European successes by participating in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League for the first time and reaching the intermediate round in the 2017/18 UEFA Europa League .

From 2018 to 2019 Stoilow was the national coach of Kazakhstan .
