SDSS J042348.57-041403.5 (also short SDSS 0423-0414 ) is a double system consisting of two brown dwarfs in the constellation Eridanus .
The property was created in 2002 by Geballe et al. classified as a T0 dwarf by analyzing data from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) of its spectrum in the near infrared (due to the strong H 2 O bands and weak methane absorption at 1.6 and 2.2 μm). Spectra obtained later in visible light gave the object an assignment to spectral class L7.5 (e.g. Cruz et al. 2003). Finally, Burgasser et al. through observations with the Hubble space telescope from July 2004, to resolve the object as a double system with a narrow angular distance of 0 ″, 16 (corresponding to around 2.5 AU ). The components were roughly assigned to the spectral classes L6 and T2, and the period of the system was estimated to be around 15 to 20 years.
