In 2046, people in need of care will be cared for by humanoid robots in hospital-like facilities. For Jeong-in ( Lee Yoo-young ) the whole situation is very upsetting. Her mother has been in a vegetative state for ten years now and is cared for by the nurse Gan Ho-jung (Korean for “caring for”, Lee Yoo-young in a double role). The lady next door, Jeong-gil (Yeom Hye-ran) is not doing well either. Her husband has dementia and her care robot is a cheap model. In this way, her husband succeeds time and again in messing up the whole apartment before the robot intervenes. One day she takes her own life by overdosing on tablets. The case triggers horror in the other residents because the robot has done nothing. He was only set up for Jeong-gil Mann, but not for herself. It is different with Jeong-in, who had the robot set up for her mother and herself as the caregivers. Jeong-in blames himself because Jeong-gil apparently wanted to talk to her the day before, but she just kept walking. Ho-jung, as Jeong-in calls her, notices that she has suicidal tendencies. When Jeong-in wants to go, she doesn't say “goodbye” as usual. Jeong-in is overwhelmed with the situation. Ho-jung does calculations that lead to a brief power outage and knock you out yourself. Shortly afterwards, Sister Sabina ( Ye Soo-jung ) distributed slips of paper to talk about God. When Ho-jung woke up and checked the condition of Jeong-in's mother, she saw him and called. She asks Sabina whether it is right to kill someone if that can save another. Sabina denies this. But Ho-jung insists on being right. During the discussion it becomes clear that Ho-jung developed human feelings. Ho-jung also said that 95% of the patients' close relatives at the facility committed suicide. She decides to disconnect the mother from the life support machines and so kill her. At the right time, she can reach Jeong-in, who was about to hang herself. Instead, she goes straight to the hospital. She is grateful to Ho-jung for the care and that she can be sure that she died in peace. But then a head of the facility enters the room and sends Ho-jung outside. He tells Jeong-in that the security camera images show the robot disconnecting her mother from the equipment. Jeong-in lets Ho-jung show the recordings. When she sees Ho-jung disconnect everything, Jeong-in rushes at her furiously and beats and kicks the robot until it loses its functionality and only prays. Finally, Sabina also arrives, who sees the smashed robot.

A year later, Sabina wants to see the robot again. She goes to Jeong-in and asks about him. Jeong-in is much better than before, but when the robot is mentioned, she gets angry. She says he was sent back to the headquarters in Berlin for further investigation. So she makes Sabina to Germany to visit the headquarters. They are happy to see her there, as she last spoke to the robot before the mother was murdered. She is allowed to see the robot again, which is kept in a large room in a kind of cupboard like an old device. When she opens the case, the robot is praying. Ho-jung is pleased with the visit. She tells how she first developed feelings. It was because of the closeness Jeong-in gave her and that she called her Ho-jung. Just like now Sabina. But Ho-jung wants Sabina to press the destruction button on the side. Otherwise she would be trapped there forever. She just wants to die. But Sabina refuses. This makes Ho-jung so angry that the power goes out briefly. Finally, they both recite the passages of Cain and Abel from the Bible.

However, he still receives messages about deliveries that are supposed to be related to app updates. He wants to join them. But he slips in the bathroom and dies. Ka-ram is convinced that it is further proof of the correctness of the app, which Seon-ho rejects. Seon-ho can see the delivery address on Kim's smartphone. Both want to make their way there. But Seon-ho receives a call that her sister's smartphone has been restored and cracked. So from now on she lets go of Manxin and Ka-ram sets off alone. At the police station, Seon-ho finds out that there was no final message from Manxin . Her sister uninstalled the app a month earlier and hung around in forums that help overcome app addiction. She now wants to find Ka-ram. He has meanwhile met the developer. When Seon-ho arrives, they learn that the app predicted their coming. The last update should give the app a godlike status. But if the update fails, it could destroy the whole app. But Manxin , who adores people, decides not to become a god, but to become like people. It thus stipulates that from now on only 50% of all messages will actually occur. This creates an uproar among the population and some want to blame the company for accidents.
