SFA ( Stands for Anything ) is a New York hardcore band founded in 1984 . The band is credited with forming the term “ Hatecore ”.

history

SFA was founded in 1984 by Mike Bullshit , a New York fanzine writer. Their first concert took place on Easter Sunday 1985 in New York. In 1988, Brendan Rafferty joined as the second singer, who sang with Bullshit on the 1988 debut EP. Soon after, Mike Bullshit left the group for a few months to hitchhike through America and upon his return found that the band had changed too much and wrote new material with Brendan Rafferty; he left the group and in turn formed the hardcore band Go! . At that time SFA played with Rafferty (vocals) as headliners in clubs like the CBGB and appeared as support for Agnostic Front and Bad Brains , among others . Soon after, the band began using the term hate-core on flyers and shirts to differentiate themselves from the posi-core of the straight-edge scene. In 1989 the band began to record the band's first album for DeMilo Records, but was insufficiently supported by the label to the band's dissatisfaction, so it was only released in 1991; at that time SFA already had the album So What? released on Wreck-Age Records. Two successful European tours followed in 1991 and 1994. After SFA fell out with Wreck-Age Records, their third album Solace was released in 1995 on We Bite Records, followed by a third European tour in 1996. Even later, the SFA met regularly, mostly for smaller concerts within the USA.
