The Sports Community Aufbau Boizenburg is a sports club in the western Mecklenburg town of Boizenburg .

Club development

SG Aufbau was founded in 1990 by members of the previous company sports community (BSG) Aufbau Boizenburg . The BSG was founded in 1948 under the name BSG Keramik Boizenburg and was renamed BSG Chemie in 1951, before it received its name, which was valid until 1990, in 1954. The sponsoring companies of BSG Aufbau were the Elbe shipyard and the local tile factory. Since the city, which had around 11,000 inhabitants at the time, was temporarily in the restricted border area of the GDR , sport in the city on the Elbe did not develop much. Only the soccer team was able to appear nationwide in the 1970s when they were represented in the second-rate GDR league for two seasons .

After the founding of the registered association SG Aufbau, departments for football, handball, table tennis, athletics, boxing, badminton and dancing were created. The club can use the sports fields "An der Fliesenfabrik" and "Grüner Weg", a small field facility and the sports hall "Richard Schwenk".

Development of the sport of football

The first men's team of the company sports association Chemie Boizenburg was one of the founding communities of the Schwerin regional league, which was introduced in 1952 and was then third-class . After places in the midfield, the team won the district championship in 1963, now taking on as BSG development, and thus qualified for the promotion round to the GDR league. In the simple round with four teams, the Boizenburgers only managed a 4-3 win against Motor Wolgast , the games against Warnowwerft Warnemünde and Empor Neustrelitz were lost 8-1 and 2-1. Since Empor Neustrelitz was disqualified after completion of the promotion round, this had to be repeated, but Boizenburg was no longer built, so the team continued to play in the district league. In 1966, he had to be relegated to the Schwerin district class, but he was immediately promoted again and in 1971 with a 2nd place even qualifying for the GDR league. The Boizenburger could only stay there for one season, but after two years in the district league in 1974 they again reached the GDR league. But the 1974/75 league season also ended with relegation, and so BSG Aufbau Boizenburg remained in the third-rate district league until the GDR football operation ended.

With 4th place after the 1990/91 season, the newly founded SG Aufbau qualified for the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania regional league, which the team, however, had to leave as third from bottom towards the regional league. After the district championship in 1995, the now only sixth class Landesliga West could be achieved, but had to be left again six years later after relegation. Subsequently, the team played in the district league or national class, which has only been eight-class after various league reforms since 2008, before being promoted to the regional league in 2010. In 2014 the promotion to the sixth class association league Mecklenburg-Vorpommern was celebrated.
