Torsten Koop (born May 11, 1965 ) is a former German football referee .

Koop directed 83 Bundesliga games from 1995 to 2004 . In addition, the referee of SG Aufbau Boizenburg led 67 matches in the 2nd Bundesliga from 1993 to 2004 .

In the course of the Bundesliga betting scandal , Koop was banned for three months because he was late in reporting an attempt to recruit Robert Hoyzer to the DFB . He justified this failure with the fact that he had taken Hoyzer's advertising as a boast. After the suspension had expired, Koop did not pass the DFB's performance tests due to problems with the Achilles tendon that resulted from an injury in his last second division game between Wacker Burghausen and 1. FC Köln and ended his referee career.

Koop lives in Lüttenmark in the municipality of Greven near Boizenburg and works for the sporting goods manufacturer Adidas in Hamburg .
