The SV 1950 Barth is a German football club from Barth in the Vorpommern-Rügen . Home is the Barther sports field , the club is in the tradition of SG Barth or BSG Lokomotive Barth .

Athletic career

SV Barth was founded in 1946 under the name SG Barth . The loose sports group acted in 1946/47 shortly after its foundation within the Landesliga Mecklenburg-Ost ( SBZ ), in which it took fifth place behind SG Altentreptow and SG Bergen .

With the entry of the Deutsche Reichsbahn and the Locomotive Sports Association as a carrier company , SG Barth was renamed Lokomotive Barth in 1950 , the name of which was retained until 1990. On a sporting level, Lok Barth no longer played a role in higher-class GDR football. Only in the 1988/89 season did the company sports association from Western Pomerania achieve their first promotion to the third-rate Rostock district league , from which they were immediately relegated with eight points together with Motor Wolgast .

In 1990 the BSG, like other clubs of the Lokomotiv sports association, changed its name again to ESV 1950 Barth . The game operation was initially maintained until 1994. Afterwards, like Lok Schöneweide , the association was no longer able to raise the annual rent required by the Bahn AG for the site and renamed it again to SV Barth in 1950 .

The SV Barth operates without exception in the local area of Western Pomerania. The current division is national class IV .
