The SG Dynamo Hohenschönhausen was a German sports association from Berlin , whose football department existed from 1952 to 1966.

Football section

Dynamo Hohenschönhausen was founded in 1952 under the name SG Dynamo Berlin , and took over the league space of the previously disbanded SG Volkspolizei Potsdam . The team acted in the GDR league for two seasons initially. Due to the transfer of SG Dynamo Dresden to Berlin in 1954 , from which the SC Dynamo Berlin emerged, two clubs briefly existed with the name Dynamo Berlin . On the one hand, the newly founded GDR Oberligist SC Dynamo Berlin, which had taken the Oberligaplatz in Dresden, and the older Berlin Dynamo team SG Dynamo Berlin, which was relegated to the Berlin district league.

The district division was then renamed and from then on played as Dynamo Berlin-Mitte. In 1956 Dynamo Berlin-Mitte succeeded in advancing to the third-class II. GDR league before the SG Adlershof tied on points . For the new season, Dynamo Berlin-Mitte merged in 1957 with the second team of SC Dynamo Berlin to form SG Dynamo Hohenschönhausen . Dynamo Hohenschönhausen acted as an independent club, but was in practice a branch of SC Dynamo. Mostly talented players and retired older players from Dynamo Berlin played in Hohenschönhausen.

In 1959, the Berlin team rose again to the GDR league together with Vorwärts Cottbus . In the following period, Hohenschönhausen was able to establish itself in the league until 1966, with a third rank being achieved in the 1961/62 season. With the separation of the football section at SC Dynamo Berlin and the subsequent establishment of the BFC Dynamo , the football department of Dynamo Hohenschönhausen was dissolved. The players from Dynamo Hohenschönhausen started in 1966 as the second team of the newly founded BFC.
