SKE48 is a Japanese idol group cast and produced by Yasushi Akimoto , which appear almost every day in their own theater in Nagoya ( S a k a e district ). SKE48 follows the same concept as the sister groups AKB48 in Akihabara, Tokyo , NMB48 in Namba, Osaka and HKT48 in Hakata, Fukuoka , and offers a wide range of opportunities for fan-idol interaction.
Career
SKE48 is the second oldest group among these and has released 15 singles (and one album) so far (August 2014), of which the last eleven singles were first in the Oricon weekly charts. With over five million CDs sold, SKE48 is currently one of the most successful groups in the Japanese music market. The group currently (August 2014) has 67 members who are divided into three teams (teams S, KII and E) to cope with the many appearances. Jurina Matsui, Rena Matsui, Akari Suda, Sae Miyazawa and Aya Shibata are the best-known members who are also regularly part of the main group AKB48.
SKE48 is currently under contract with the Avex label.
