SKG BANK is a registered trademark of Deutsche Kreditbank Aktiengesellschaft (DKB) , which emerged from the former SKG Bank AG . That was a stock corporation and direct bank based in Saarbrücken . It was a wholly-owned subsidiary of Deutsche Kreditbank until July 2015 and also belonged to the Bayerische Landesbank Group . After the merger with the parent company in July 2015, SKG BANK will continue to operate as a brand of Deutsche Kreditbank .
history
The SKG Bank was founded as Saarländische Kundenkredit-Gesellschaft mbH in 1953 by the Landesbank Saar in Saarbrücken. The focus of the company's activities was on the regional installment and leasing business for private customers. The business was conducted through cooperation with retailers. There were branches in Saarland and later in Berlin and the surrounding area.
In 1995 the Saarbrücken-based direct insurer CosmosDirekt took over a stake in SKG and thus laid the foundation for direct sales of banking products. The SKG was converted to the branchless direct bank SKG Bank GmbH .
In the second half of 2006, Deutsche Kreditbank Aktiengesellschaft took over CosmosDirekt's 49.9% stake in SKG Bank GmbH. Landesbank Saar continued to hold the other 50.1%.
In 2008, DKB also took over the stake in Landesbank Saar and thus became the sole owner of SKG Bank. This was converted into a stock corporation on September 12, 2008 . The SKG was thus affiliated with the deposit protection fund of the Federal Association of Public Banks in Germany and the compensation scheme of the Federal Association of Public Banks in Germany .
Since July 14, 2015, SKG Bank has been a branch of Deutsche Kreditbank Aktiengesellschaft and no longer an independent public limited company. The company's own brand identity was retained as "SKG BANK".
