The SKS metaplast Scheffer-Klute GmbH is a manufacturer of air pumps , bicycle fenders and other parts of the cycling equipment based in the Sauerland Sundern .
history
Karl Scheffer-Klute started manufacturing curtain rods in Sundern in the Sauerland in 1921. After he had transferred the business to his son-in-law Wilhelm Blome, he took over the air pump factory in Sundern in 1932. The company started manufacturing metal pumps - the basis for the manufacture of what would later become the racing compressor. Series production started in the production building at the Hubertushalle. In the 1950s, production was expanded to include plastic air pumps. 1959 son Wilhelm Blome jun. into the family business.
In 1983 SKS took over the traditional English brand Bluemels and began producing mudguards. In the early 1990s, SKS was the market leader in original bicycle equipment and delivered to up to 90 countries worldwide. At around the same time, Willo Blome and his business partner Michael Beste joined the company as managing directors.
From 2003 onwards, SKS manufactured cooling water components and couplings for the automotive industry .
As of the 2018 season, SKS Germany will be the main sponsor of the German cycling team Team Sauerland NRW p / b SKS GERMANY .
