Short Message Peer to Peer (short SMPP ) is a protocol for the transmission of data over a network. It is used to transmit SMS short messages from a network element (External Short Message Entity) to a Short Message Service Center (SMSC).

In addition to transmitting a short message, the following operations are also supported:

  • Status query
  • Retrieval of a short message in the event that it has not yet been read
  • Replace one short message with another
  • Read receipt
