The BB 10004 was a French electric locomotive from the Société nationale des chemins de fer français (SNCF), for use on the line network electrified with alternating current of 25 kV 50 Hz, which was used as a prototype for the testing of thyristor- controlled converters and synchronous motors (three-phase motors) served.

history

The prototype locomotive was converted from the BB 15055 locomotive in 1982 . The trials gave better results than the prototype locomotive BB 10003 with asynchronous motors that was being tested at the same time .

The paintwork and thus the appearance of the BB 15000 series was retained. However, in connection with the conversion to blue, the basic color was supplemented with orange bands instead of red with orange bands. In 1989 the prototype locomotive was restored to its original condition and was given the number 15055 again.

Based on the technology of the BB 10004, the two prototypes BB 20011 and 20012 were built in 1985 and 1986 . The two two-system locomotives for direct current 1.5 kV and alternating current of 25 kV with 50 Hz then served as the basis for the two-system series BB 26000 Sybic, which was built in 1988 .
