SRET 2 ( French Satellite des Recherches et d'Etudes Technologiques , also MAS 2 ( Maly Awtomatitscheski Sputnik )) was a French test satellite .

mission

SRET 2 was in the shape of an eight-sided polyhedron weighing 29.6 kg. Experiments on solar technology and radiation technology were carried out on the satellite. For example, the aging of plastic films due to the significantly higher radiation in space than on earth was investigated.

The launch took place on June 5, 1975 together with the Soviet communications satellite Molnija-1 30 on a Molnija launcher from the Plesetsk cosmodrome .

On July 10, 1988, the satellite burned up when it re-entered the earth's atmosphere.

Before SRET 2, SRET 1 started as the first satellite of the SRET series on April 4, 1972, also from Plesezk.
