Council for Reconciliation and Reconstruction in Somalia
Somalia Reconciliation and Restoration Council (Somalia Reconciliation and Restoration Council, abbreviated SRRC ) was a political and military alliance in the Somali civil war in 2001 by the warlord Hussein Mohammed Farah - the son of Mohamed Farrah Aidid had been established -.
The SRRC emerged from the Somali National Alliance , also led by Aidid . It was founded at a meeting in Awassa, Ethiopia . In addition to the Rahanweyn resistance army under Mohammed Nur Shatigadud, allies were various warlords and clans. The SRRC formed a “counter-government” in Baidoa against the internationally recognized Somali transitional government and also fought against the Juba Valley Alliance, which was allied with the transitional government .
The SRRC was temporarily supported by neighboring Ethiopia and allegedly by the USA . In July 2003 she reconciled with the transitional government and received a number of seats in their parliament. Its most important leaders now hold ministerial posts.
