Hassan Mohammed Nur Shatigadud

Hassan Mohammed Nur Shatigadud (born June 17, 1946 in Baidoa , † March 25, 2013 in Bonn ) was a warlord in the Somali civil war. He belonged to the Rahanweyn clan and led its armed organization Rahanweyn Resistance Army (RRA). His nickname Shatigadud means "red shirt".

Under Siad Barre , Hassan Mohammed Nur Shatigadud was a colonel in the notorious secret police. During the civil war he became chairman of the RRA, which was founded in 1995. In 2001, the RRA joined the Somali Democratic Redemption Front (SRRC) against the new Somali transitional government , which was chaired alternately by Shatigadud, Hussein Mohammed Farah and three others. In 2002 the RRA proclaimed the independence of Southwest Somalia with Shatigadud as president. Conflicts arose within the RRA between Shatigadud and his representatives, Aden Mohammed Nuur Madobe and Mohammed Ibrahim Habsade , who demanded that Shatigadud renounce either the presidency or the chairmanship of the RRA. In 2003 the SRRC and with it the RRA joined the transitional government. Shatigadud has been a member of the transitional parliament since 2004 and finance minister since 2005. He died at the end of March 2013 in a Bonn hospital at the age of 67 and was buried in his hometown after the transfer.
