The SS military training area West Prussia was in the district of Konitz in West Prussia . Its construction began in autumn 1943. The command post of the military training area was set up in Gut Kelm near Bruss . It also served to train the operating teams for field starts of the retaliatory weapon 2 (unit 4, V2 for short).

After the bombing of the Peenemünde Army Research Center by the Royal Air Force in August 1943, the first units of the Waffen SS came to Bruss. Some of the SS members built their own barracks at the beginning . The extent to which forced laborers were used to expand the military training area has not been conclusively determined. It is known that Dutch concentration camp inmates were involved in the construction of the facilities.

On June 1, 1944, an SS and Waffen-Unterführerschule SS military training area "West Prussia" was set up in Reckow near Bütow on the training area. From the summer of 1944, tests with A4 rockets were carried out at Lindenbusch 's training area. The rocket test group was relocated here after the clearance of the Heidelager SS military training area in south-eastern Poland.

The starting point was at Wierzchucin.

After the last take-off of an A4 on January 11, 1945, the square was cleared due to the approaching Red Army . Teaching was stopped and the last members of the school were relocated to Denmark .
