Systems on Silicon Manufacturing Cooperation (SSMC) is a foundry , i.e. a contract manufacturer for semiconductor products . The company headquarters and production are located in Singapore .
Company formation
SSMC was founded in 1998 as a joint venture between Philips , TSMC and the Economic Development Board Investments Pte Ltd. founded. Since November 2006 the company has been partly owned by NXP Semiconductors (61.2%) and TSMC (38.8%). In addition to NXP Semiconductors and TSMC, SSMC's customers include Sony and Canon .
production
SSMC operates a factory for the production of 200 mm wafers with structure widths of 0.14 to 0.25 micrometers . Construction of the factory in Singapore began in June 1999. Production started in 2000. According to its own information, SSMC has a production capacity of 53,000 wafers per month (as of the end of 2009).
In 2008, SSMC was the 10th largest foundry in the world with sales of US $ 340 million. For 2009, SSMC ranks 14th with sales of US $ 280 million, 12th for 2010 with US $ 330 million and 11th for 2011 with US $ 345 million.
