KL Sandefjord

The anchor-handling tugs of the type STX AH 12 CD from the Norwegian shipyard STX Norway Offshore (today: VARD AS) in Langsten had the world's highest bollard pull at the time of their commissioning .

details

The ship's design is designed as an AHTS with a deckhouse in the front and a long aft working deck. A total of five Rolls Royce Brattvaag winches, two anchor winches, a combined anchor and tow winch and two auxiliary winches are housed in the rear part of the superstructure. In addition, the work area is equipped with a hydraulic anchor frame, several cranes and other equipment.

The ships' machinery can be operated diesel-mechanically and diesel-electrically. The main engines are two Wärtsilä diesel engines of the 16v32 / 8 type, each with an output of 7680  kW . They can be coupled to the shafts of the two variable pitch propellers via a reduction gear. Each of the reduction gears has couplable shaft generators and couplable input shafts for an additional electric motor. Five Caterpillar 3516C auxiliary diesels , each with 2200 kW, can thus be switched on for the drive. For maneuvers and the dynamic positioning system, there are two additional transverse thrusters at the front and one at the rear, as well as a retractable pod drive at both ends . The total drive power of the system of 26,361 kW enables a maximum speed of 18  knots and a bollard pull of around 390 or 397 tons.
