The Supra Caisse-maladie , based in Lausanne, is a Swiss insurance company specializing in health insurance . The core business of the health insurance company, which is organized in the legal form of a foundation , is basic insurance under the Health Insurance Act and supplementary insurance and accident insurance through the subsidiary Supra Assurances SA founded in 2002 . In 2007, the Supra Caisse-maladie had an average of just under 45,000 people with basic insurance and in 2007 achieved premium income of 217.6 million Swiss francs in compulsory health insurance.

The Supra was founded in 1846 and has long been firmly anchored in Vaud . Her area of ​​activity was mainly in western Switzerland until the 1990s . On November 14, 2012, Finma ordered Supra Assurances SA to open for bankruptcy with immediate effect due to over-indebtedness of over 500 million francs. The insured person was transferred to the sister company Assura SA, which, like Supra Assurances SA, belongs to the Divesa group. Divesa SA, Assura SA and the service company Figeas SA were placed under the supervision of Finma, the boards of directors of all three companies and the CEO of Divesa SA were suspended and a representative was appointed in their place.
