The SV Berlin-Buch eV is a sports club (SV) in the district of the same name in the Berlin district of Pankow .

It was founded in 1990 as the successor to the BSG Academy of Sciences . In 2007 the association had around 500 members, most of whom came from the neighboring districts of Berlin and the neighboring communities of Brandenburg . The range of sports on offer includes aerobics , badminton , basketball , gymnastics , soccer , karate , weight training , athletics , wrestling , tennis and volleyball .

Weight training

The most successful department of the club is weight training. Several members have won national and international titles and medals:

  • Jan Bast , world champion bench press 2006, class up to 90 kg / German champion 2004
  • Matthias Marten , German bench press champion 2007, class up to 110 kg
  • Sven Raskin, third in the German bench press championship 2004, class up to 100 kg

In 2005 and 2006, the club was first in the Bundesliga bench press . In 2007 they did not take part. Since October 14, 2006, the club's team has held the German bench press record with a load of 622.5 points.
