The Skiverein Eintracht Frankenhain eV is a registered sports club from the Thuringian Frankenhain . The club has a special focus on biathlon . In addition to the ski / biathlon section, there is a football and chess department.

The SV Eintracht Frankenhain sees itself in the tradition of the sports clubs that have existed in the village since 1848 and of winter sports in the village, which have been operated since 1919. In 1970 a state biathlon base was opened in Frankenhain, and BSG Motor Frankenhain was founded a year later as the sponsor. In 1984 a roller ski track was built, which was expanded in 2000. On July 22, 1990, the SV Eintracht Frankenhain was founded out of the BSG , and in the same year the location became a biathlon talent performance center. Frankenhain is particularly important as a youth sponsor. In 2000 the club was awarded the Golden Ribbon of the Thuringian Sports Youth , in the following year with the Green Ribbon of the Dresdner Bank for exemplary promotion of talent in the club , in 2002 with the Josef Ertl Young Talent Award of the DSV , in 2003 with the Thuringia Gas Young Talent Award .

The association was involved in major events several times. In 2004 he supported the 2004 biathlon world championships in Oberhof , and in 2005 and 2006 the German summer biathlon championships were held in Frankenhain. The 2009 summer biathlon world championships , which the club held, were the highlight of the club's life . In addition, the Thuringian championship in summer biathlon was held by SV Eintracht Frankenhain, as well as the races of the Biathlon Germany Cup. In addition to championships in biathlon, championships of the German Shooting Federation are held.

The successes of the club members are largely limited to the field of biathlon. Luise Kummer and Erik Lesser are currently members of the club, as is the cross-country skier Jens Filbrich , who, like the former biathlete Katrin Apel, won the first Olympic medals for the club in 2006. The club's chairman is Jens Hendriks, head of the ski / biathlon section Thomas Heyer and full-time biathlon trainer Uwe Lesser.
