history
General
After the Second World War, all sports clubs in Triptis were dissolved, as in the entire Soviet occupation zone . After sports traffic was initially continued in sports communities without fixed organizational forms, company sports communities (BSG) were founded in 1948 , which were to form the basis of the East German sports system. In Triptis, the local porcelain factory established the BSG Chemie Triptis with several sports sections. In 1990 the porcelain factory had to give up the promotion of the company sports association due to the changed economic conditions after the political change of 1989 . In order to be able to continue the numerous sports fields, the SV Grün-Weiß was founded.
BSG soccer
The soccer teams were one of the most active sections of BSG Chemie. In the small town with almost 4,000 inhabitants, football players also started small after 1950. They played in the district league until 1953 , but then rose within two years to the third-class district league Gera . Then they shuttled back and forth between the district league and the district class until they finally had to leave the district league in 1962. In 1954 , Chemie Triptis qualified for the GDR-wide competition for the FDGB soccer cup . In the first round Triptis had to compete as a district league team with the district class team Traktor Teuchern. The tractor drivers, who played a league below, won 3-1, and so the cup competition was over for Triptis after just one game.
Current development
The teams in the football, volleyball, table tennis and chess departments take part in regular games for their sport. The football department maintains two men's and three youth teams. The 1st team currently plays in the Jena-Saale-Orla Süd district league. The table tennis department is the second largest department of the club with around 40 members and five teams in active play (including one youth team). The 1st and 2nd men's teams play in the 3rd district league in East Thuringia (as of the 2013/14 season). Volleyball is played in the district league and the chess players are represented in the sixth-class district league East Thuringia and the district league Saalfeld / Rudolstadt / Saale-Orla-Kreis (all information with the exception of the football and table tennis department as of 2009).
In May 2017, the senior division and parts of the youth division were outsourced from the football division and started in July 2017 under the name FC Chemie Triptis.
