SWA publishing house
The SWA-Verlag was the publishing house of the Soviet military administration in Germany with seat in Berlin (East). It was founded in 1946 and existed until 1950. Its purpose was to contribute to overcoming fascism in Germany and to spread socialist ideas through German-language publications. The publishing program included classics of Marxism-Leninism , contemporary historical works and important works of Soviet literature, e.g. B .:
- Maxim Gorky's mother ,
- How the steel was hardened by Nikolai Ostrowski ,
- The ordeal of Alexei Tolstoy ,
- Quiet Flows the Don by Mikhail Sholokhov ,
- The way into the life of Anton Makarenko ,
- The iron stream by Alexander Serafimowitsch
- and poems by Vladimir Mayakovsky .
