The SWB-service, Wohnungsvermietungs- and -baugesellschaft mbH - short SWB - is a municipal housing company based in Mülheim an der Ruhr , where the holding company at the Ruhr GmbH 72.10% and the Mülheim Energy Services GmbH - in short medl - Holds 27.90% of the shares and has around 8,400 own apartments (as of 2018).

history
The SWB was founded in 1951 by Mayor Heinrich Thöne as a social housing association (SWB) and was managed by Mülheimer Wohnungsbau eG (MWB), founded in 1898, until 1966 .
With the founding of the wholly-owned subsidiary SWB-Dienstleistungs-, Bauträger- und Finanzservicegesellschaft mbH (Bahnstrasse 25) in 1992, the aim was to limit the parent company to the business areas of renting and leasing, while all other business areas, such as property development, were limited to the Daughter were transferred.
