Heiko Hendriks

Heiko Hendriks (born February 22, 1966 in Duisburg ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and management consultant. By a cabinet decision of the North Rhine-Westphalian state government on January 23, 2018, he was appointed representative of the state government for the concerns of German expellees, repatriates and repatriates. Before that, he was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia in the 16th electoral term from January 2014 to May 2017 and has been a city councilor of the independent city of Mülheim an der Ruhr since 1994 .

State politics

In the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2012 ran Hendriks for the first time as a direct candidate of the CDU for the state legislature in parliamentary constituency Muelheim I . With a first vote share of 21.2% (elected applicant: Prime Minister Hannelore Kraft , SPD, 59.1% of the votes) and the state list position 47 of the CDU, it missed direct entry into the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia. After Karl-Josef Laumann left, he moved to the state parliament at the end of January 2014.

Hendriks was a full member of the main committee and the legal committee of the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament as well as the NSU investigation committee there , in which he was chairman and spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group since April 20, 2016. He was also a deputy member of the committees for schools and further education as well as innovation, science and research, the home affairs committee and the committee for local politics.

In the 2017 state elections, he ran again as a direct candidate for the CDU in the Mülheim I state electoral district and missed re-entry into the state parliament with a first vote share of 30.1% (candidate: Prime Minister Hannelore Kraft , SPD, 43.7% of the votes).

In its cabinet meeting on January 23, 2018, the North Rhine-Westphalian state government appointed Heiko Hendriks as the representative for the concerns of German expellees, repatriates and ethnic German repatriates. At the same time, he has taken over the chairmanship of the regional advisory board for issues relating to expellees, refugees and repatriates. In the history of North Rhine-Westphalia he is the first representative for expellees and resettlers in the state. It is based in the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Areas of responsibility include:

  • Support for the maintenance, promotion and further development of the cultural assets of the displaced areas
  • Maintenance of contacts and cooperation with institutions and organizations of German expellees, repatriates and ethnic repatriates, also at the federal level and in other German countries
  • Intensification of the sponsorships of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia with the regional teams of the Upper Silesians and the Transylvanian Saxons

Party political engagement and local politics

Hendriks has been a member of the CDU since 1985.

Since 1994 he has been a member of the City Council of Mülheim an der Ruhr. From 1999 to 2007 he was the first deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group. Since 1994 he has been the education policy spokesman for his parliamentary group and from 2004 to 2009 he was chairman of the city's enterprises committee. In 2007 he was awarded the Ring of Honor by the city of Mülheim an der Ruhr for his services to the common good.

In the CDU Mülheim an der Ruhr, he has been chairman of the CDU local branch Broich since 2000 and a member of the district board since 2007. Since 1998 he has been the elected delegate for the state party congress of the CDU NRW.

From 1991 to 1993 Hendriks was chairman of the Ring of Christian Democratic Students (RCDS) at the University of Duisburg and student representative in the Senate, Convention and Student Parliament of the University of Duisburg (1991-1994). During his time as state chairman of the RCDS-NRW (1992–1994) he was also a co-opted state board member of the CDU and Junge Union NRW. Since 1991 he has been a board member of the Evangelical Working Group (EAK) of the CDU-Mülheim, since 1997 a state board member of the EAK of the CDU-NRW. Since 1994 Hendriks has been the district chairman of the East and Central German Association / Union of Displaced Persons, Refugees and Resettlers (OMV) of the CDU-Mülheim an der Ruhr, since 1997 a member of the regional board of the OMV of the CDU-NRW and since 2011 deputy district chairman of the OMV of the CDU-Ruhr . Since October 2013 he has been state chairman of OMV-NRW. In this function he is also a co-opted member of the state executive committee of the CDU - NRW.

Professional background

Hendriks grew up in Duisburg and has lived in Mülheim an der Ruhr since 1978. He made his secondary school leaving certificate at Broich Realschule and his Abitur at Broich Gymnasium . After his military service he began studying social sciences, psychology and education at the Gerhard Mercator University , which he graduated with a diploma. After three years of freelance work in adult education, he has been working as an independent management consultant / personal trainer since 1995.

From 1995 to 2005 and in the lay judges' periods 2010–2013 and 2014–2018, Hendriks was or is a lay judge at the district court of Mülheim an der Ruhr . During his membership in the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia, he did not work as a lay judge. He is also a member of the nature conservation organization World Wide Fund For Nature ( WWF ) and the victim protection organization Weißer Ring .
