The Broich Realschule is an urban Realschule located in the western Mülheim district of Broich .
General
The Realschule is currently attended by around 890 students (as of 2016), who are taught by 63 teachers and a school social worker . It has been a European school since May 4, 2012 and is committed to promoting pupils. Classes at Broich Realschule are co-educational .
history
The Broich Realschule was opened in 1965. On December 1, 1966, the secondary school could be occupied for the first time, only then did it become apparent that the school was much too small. However, the neighboring high school had enough rooms available and for the first time gave the secondary school two basement rooms that were previously used as storage rooms.
MINT
The Realschule Broich is the only school in Mülheim that offers a separate class (c) for each grade level with a focus on MINT . The classes receive weekly remedial instruction in the form of an additional double period in the field of natural sciences ( MINT ).
Bilingual branch
Through additional English lessons, own working groups and trips abroad, a more comprehensive command of the English language and a strengthened basis should be imparted, which should facilitate the entry into vocational training or into a secondary school.
The Realschule Broich offers PET (Preliminary English Test), Erasmus + (former Comenius ) and DELF (Diplome dÈtudes en Langue Francaise) in the bilingual branch .
Cooperations
The Realschule has entered into a cooperation with various schools and associations in recent years. The foundation here is an innovative cooperation network between the Broich Realschule, the Karl-Ziegler-Schule , the Lehnerstrasse vocational college and the Stadtmitte vocational college with the aim of establishing a sustainable learning partnership for mutual benefit.
Awards
The Realschule Broich received a certificate for special commitment by participating in the ICCS (International Civic and Citizenship Education Study) 2016 from the University of Duisburg .
In addition, she received an award from the mayor of the city of Mülheim for the European project, which was met, researched, photographed and documented in over 50 different topics for six months, once a month.
Some pupils from the Broich Realschule took part in the competition “ Jugend Debattiert ” and one pupil from 9a made it to the finals of the regional championship.
The Realschule was the first school in Germany to be awarded the "IT TECH" certificate in Cologne in 2010.
