Saša Večtomov

Saša Večtomov ( Alexandr Večtomov ; Sasha Vechtomov ; Alexander Ivanovich Wetschtomow , Александр Иванович Вечтомов; * December 12, 1930 in Prague ; † December 29, 1989 in Prague) was a Czech cellist of Russian descent.

Večtomov received his first cello lessons from his father Ivan Večtomov , who was solo celilst of the Czech Philharmonic . He was then a student of Ladislav Zelenka at the Prague Conservatory and the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague . Later he took lessons from André Navarra .

Večtomov played two instruments: a cello by Alessandro Gagliano from 1712 and an instrument by Antonio Guadanini from 1754. As a soloist, he has performed internationally at concerts throughout Europe, South America, Japan, India, Egypt and others, and has made several recordings for the Supraphon label . As a chamber musician, he was a member of the České trio and the Prague Quartet . He also taught at the Prague Conservatory .
