SaarDok is a document server with archiving function for documents or websites related to the Saarland region .
SaarDok is operated by the Saarland University and State Library (SULB) in its function as the Saarland State Library . SaarDok can generally be used free of charge by authors or institutions as well as readers. However , the server does not represent a pure open access offer, as it primarily manages non-scientific content. Saardok is one of the few projects in Germany that is dedicated to archiving regionally specific documents and websites ( web archiving ) and thus expanding the scientific open access approach to safeguarding the digital cultural heritage .
SaarDok is hosted for the Saarland University and State Library by the Baden-Württemberg Library Service Center (BSZ) and is based on the SWBcontent software developed by the BSZ .
In addition to the SaarDok server, the Saarland University and State Library operates the SciDok Open Access document server , an institutional repository.
