Ulrich Herb (born March 20, 1970 in Saarbrücken ) is a German sociologist , library scientist and information scientist . He has been working at the Saarland University and State Library since 2001 and is responsible for the support of third-party funded projects and electronic publication offers. He also runs a freelance science and publication consultancy and works as a journalist, primarily for Heise Verlag .

Career

Herb completed his sociology studies at Saarland University with a degree in sociology and, after starting work for the Saarland University and State Library, obtained his doctorate in information science at Saarland University . He holds a number of teaching, such as at the Hochschule der Medien in Stuttgart or the HTW Chur . Herb is considered to be one of the best-known open science, open access and publication experts, topics of his research, scientific and journalistic publications are open access , open science , open knowledge , science research and scientific integrity .
