Sabina (saint)
Sabina († 119) was a saint and martyr of the early Church. Her feast day is August 29th .
According to tradition, at the beginning of the 2nd century the house of the noble Roman widow Sabina was located on the site of today's Santa Sabina church in Rome . She was a pagan and had a slave named Serapia. Through Serapia Sabina got to know Christianity and eventually became a Christian herself. Both Sabina and Serapia were charged, convicted, and executed in 119 for their beliefs .
In the 5th century her house was converted into a church. Sabina is considered one of the great martyrs of Rome, she is the patron saint of Rome, the housewives and children .
