Sabine Berninger (born September 13, 1971 in Leinefelde ) is a German politician of the Die Linke party . She was a member of the Thuringian State Parliament from July 2004 to November 2019 .

Life

Sabine Berninger grew up in Elxleben in the Ilm district. After attending the pedagogical college for educators in Gotha, where she graduated as a state-recognized educator in 1991, she initially worked as a kindergarten teacher in Elxleben. In 1993 she obtained the technical college entrance qualification at the technical college in Weimar, which was followed by studies at the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt with the academic degree of social worker / social pedagogue in 1997. Then she worked as a social worker and youth education officer until she was elected to the Thuringian state parliament .

After the fall of the Berlin Wall, Sabine Berninger became politically active, first in the SPD , then in the PDS and finally, after the merger of the PDS with the WASG, in the party Die Linke that emerged from the merger. In 2000 she was elected to the state executive committee of the PDS. In the state elections in Thuringia in 2004 , she entered the 4th Thuringian state parliament via the PDS state list; she was re-elected in the state elections in 2009 and in 2014 . In addition, Sabine Berninger was city councilor in Arnstadt until 2014 and, as a district council member, chairwoman of the youth welfare committee in the Ilm district .

Berninger is single and has no children.
