Sabine Trepte

Sabine Trepte (born 1970 ) is a German media psychologist .

Trepte studied psychology in Giessen, New York and Cologne , where she graduated in 1997 with a diploma. She then worked briefly for the management consultancy Psychonomics in Cologne, until in 1998 she got a position as a research assistant at the Institute for Journalism and Communication Research at the Hanover University of Music and Theater . In 2001 she received her doctorate there summa cum laude .

With a postdoctoral fellowship from the DAAD , Trepte conducted research on international and cross-cultural media use at the Annenberg School for Communication in California in 2002 .

From 2003 to 2005, Trepte was a research assistant at the Department of Psychology at the University of Hamburg . In 2006 she received a junior professorship for media psychology at the Hamburg Media School . In 2012 she accepted the call to the University of Hohenheim , where she has held the chair for media psychology ever since.
