Sabino Soares (born July 8, 1975 in Lelalai , Baucau , Portuguese Timor ), battle name Guntur ( German  Donner ), is a politician from East Timor . He is a member of the Partidu Libertasaun Popular (PLP) and vice president of the party's National Political Council. In 2017 he was "First Vice President on Representation" of the PLP.

Political career

Soares is a civilian teacher at the Escola 28 de Novembro , which he also founded.

In the 2017 parliamentary elections , Soares failed to rank 10 on the PLP's electoral list and in the early elections in 2018 , Soares was ranked 35th in the Aliança para Mudança e Progresso (AMP), to which the PLP also belongs, and again narrowly missed out on making it into the National Parliament of East Timor . But since government members have to give up their parliamentary seat according to the constitution, Soares moved up for Taur Matan Ruak's first parliamentary session . In Parliament, Soares is Vice-President of the Commission for Education, Youth, Culture and Citizens' Rights (Commission G).
