history
The line was opened on September 3, 1979 as the second line of the Tbilisi Metro, after the Achmetelis-Teatri-Warketeli line celebrated its opening in 1964 . At first there were only the stations Wagsolski Ploscheds (today: Sadguris Moedani ), Tsereteli , Politeknikuri (institute) (today: Teknikuri Uniwersiteti ), Komsomolskaja (today: Samedizino Uniwersiteti ) and Wiktor Goziridse (today: Delissi ). From 1992 onwards, some stations were renamed after the independence of Georgia . In 2002 the Wascha-Pschawela underground station was completed. The Sachelmzipo Uniwersiteti metro station opened in March 2017.
