geography

The Esborn district has never developed a closed settlement structure with a town center. The farms, including the Sackern farm and the associated living quarters, are scattered and mostly individually in the hilly landscape. Sackern is located in a saddle position of the Eversberge. The farm itself is on the eastern side of the saddle between the Böllberg and "Am Krambrink". The arable and pasture land that historically belongs to Sackern stretches across the saddle to the entrance of Albringhausen.

history

Sackern was first mentioned in a document in 1343. From the location of the Sackern farm itself, as well as the Kotten "Am Krambrink" , which was later separated from Sackern, and the residential areas on Karl-Schwerter-Straße, the location and extent of the medieval farm can be assumed. In 1645 the size of the farm was given in a tax list as “15 Molderschen Land” , which corresponds to about 4 hectares. Communal land, the Markland , stretched around Sackern and the other scattered courtyards . Animal husbandry was only possible by using these surrounding areas and forests to the extent necessary for survival. It was not until 1772 that was Markland among the surrounding farms and other beneficiaries divided, thus belonging to Sackern arable land significantly increased.

At the end of the Thirty Years War , taxation in the Wetter office was reorganized. In July 1645 the analysis of the economic performance of the office began. The description of the individual farms and estates gave a clear picture of this time at the end of the Thirty Years War.
