Together with his teammates Akira Higashi and Noriaki Kasai , he finished the team competition as 15th and last.

On December 16, 1989, he made his debut in the ski jumping World Cup in Sapporo . However, he stayed in his first World Cup, as well as on the following day, with no chance of World Cup points.
