Gambit Gaming or Gambit Esports shortly Gambit , GG or GG.BenQ is a company incorporated in January 2013. E-Sports - organization with a focus in the region of the Commonwealth of Independent States . She became known for her success in the League of Legends discipline , in which she was active in the LCS until the end of 2015 .

history

Since the end of 2011, what would later become the Gambit Gaming League of Legends team played for the multigaming organization Moscow Five . By winning the Intel Extreme Masters Season VI World Championship and tied for third place in the Riot Season 2 World Championship , the team was one of the most successful League of Legends teams ever.

After the organization Moscow Five disbanded in January 2013 due to financial problems, the LoL team played under the name Gambit Gaming from then on . The team won their first tournament under a new name with the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) in Katowice and defeated the South Korean sister teams Frost and Blaze, who were playing for Azubu at the time, in the semi-finals and finals.

This was followed by top results at the IEM World Championship and the newly founded Professional League Championship Series (LCS). At the Allstar tournament in May 2013 in Shanghai, Gambit made up three fifths of the European team.

In June 2013, a team member had to be replaced for the first time after support player Edward "Edward" Abgaryan switched to Curse Gaming . Previously, the line-up was unchanged since the Moscow Five times.

At the season highlight, the Riot Season 3 World Championship , the team survived the group stage in second place behind Fnatic and ahead of Samsung Galaxy Ozone . In the quarter-finals it was defeated by NaJin Black Sword 1: 2 and thus won prize money of $ 75,000. Shortly afterwards, the team won another major tournament with the Intel Extreme Masters in Cologne.

In 2014 Gambit only played in the lower midfield in the LCS and missed qualifying for the World Cup. There were a few changes in the lineup, so that at the end of the year only two of the five founding members were left in the 3-1 final win over Counter Logic Gaming at the IEM tournament in Cologne. After 2015 was not very successful for the organization, the withdrawal from the LCS was announced in early December 2015. Since 2016, Gambit has been active under the name Gambit.CIS in the LoL Continental League, which is limited to the CIS region.

On January 8, 2016, the signing of a lineup in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive around the Russian Mikhail "Dosia" Stolyarov was announced. By winning the CIS Minor Championship 2016 - Columbus, the team qualified for the offline qualifier of the MLG Major Championship: Columbus 2016 . After Gambit was eliminated in the group phase of this tournament, they made it to the round of 16 at ESL One Cologne 2016 . In early October 2016, Gambit won $ 50,000 at the Adrenaline Cyber League in Moscow. On October 12, 2016, Gambit announced the engagement of Danylo "Zeus" Teslenko , as well as the engagement of Kazak Abay "HObbit" Khassenov on loan from Team Tengri . In July 2017, Gambit reached a sporting climax by winning the PGL Major: Kraków 2017 . After internal disputes, captain Danylo "Zeus" Teslenko and coach Mychaylom "Kane" Blahynm Gambit left in August 2017. Before that, the organization Abay "HObbit" Khassenov firmly committed.
