The Eleague Major Atlanta in 2017 was a major tournament in the e-sports - discipline Counter-Strike: Global Offensive , which from 22 to 29 January 2017 in Atlanta took place. The prize money of the event was a million dollars . With Astralis , a Danish team won a major tournament for the first time.
qualification
The eight challenger teams of the Eleague Major: Atlanta 2017 were determined via an offline qualifier. The field of participants in the qualification tournament consisted of the eight teams eliminated in the group phase at ESL One Cologne 2016 and eight other teams who earned a ticket for the offline qualifier via the four minor tournaments .
Minor tournaments
In the run-up to the offline qualifier, four minor tournaments were held in the regions of Europe , the Commonwealth of Independent States , America and Asia . Four teams took part in the American minor and eight quintets in the other three events.

The finalists of each event qualified for the offline qualifier. The prize money of each tournament was 50,000 US dollars .
Offline qualifier
The offline qualifier took place from December 15-18, 2016 at the Eleague Studios in Atlanta . The qualification was held for the second time according to the Swiss system . It took a team three wins to qualify for the main tournament. After three defeats, one team was eliminated. Each team always plays against a team with the same ratio of wins (SN). Each game was played in the best of one mode. The map played was determined by vetoes of the teams (veto order: ABABA; A = team A, B = team B, then randomly from the remaining two maps.)

format
The Swiss system was used as the format for the group stage of the tournament . In this system, the first round is drawn or set. In all subsequent rounds, the leader plays against the second, the third against the fourth, and so on. Teams that lose 3 times are eliminated, while teams that win 3 times continue to play in the quarter-finals. This system has already been used in other CS: GO tournaments, including the ESL One New York 2016 .
