history

The five-man Counter-Strike team, which was initially financially supported by the Kazakh esports patron Murat “Arbalet” Zhumashevich, was formed at the end of 2009 from the strongest players in Ukraine.

Natus Vincere was very successful from the start. In early 2010, the team took first place in the ESL Intel Extreme Masters IV World Championship . Na`Vi also won gold at the Electronic Sports World Cup , and the World Cyber Games were also the first to be completed. Before that, no team had managed to win all three competitions, which were regarded as world championships, in the same year. The Natus Vincere squad had won the most prize money in 2010 and were often considered the strongest team in the world.

In 2011, the Ukrainian team successfully defended its title against the Polish team Frag eXecutors at the World Championship of the ESL Intel Extreme Masters V at CeBIT . Over time, more teams were committed.

Surname

When the organization was founded, the players played under the abbreviation Na'Vi, based on the fictional language Na'vi spoken in the film Avatar . At the beginning of 2010 the newly founded organization announced a competition to find a new name. Although unsuccessful initially, a user suggested the name Natus Vincere shortly thereafter , which gained support and allowed the organization to keep the original acronym.
