Maps

During the tournament, the teams have seven maps to choose from, which can be played. In the best-of-one mode, both teams take turns painting a map until two cards remain. From these two maps, the map that is ultimately played is selected at random. In the best-of-three mode, both teams will initially delete one map each. Then each side chooses a map, both of which are played in the first two matches. A possible decision map is chosen at random from among the three remaining maps.

The following maps are available:

Final round

The final round started with several surprises in the quarter-finals. Defending champion fnatic was eliminated in the rematch of the final of ESL One Cologne 2015 against Team EnVyUs . After the Swedes were able to win the first map de_mirage with 16: 9, they had to admit defeat to the nV on de_cobblestone and de_cache with only nine and two rounds respectively. The three other quarter-finals were decided after just two tickets. G2 Esports reached the semifinals for the first time after a 16:10 win on de_cache and a 19:17 win in overtime on de_train. In the third quarter-finals, the ninjas in pajamas secured the ticket for the semi-finals against Team SoloMid with a 16:10 win on de_train and a 16: 8 win on de_dust2. Natus Vincere also made it into the round of the last four after 16:14 and 16:13 successes against Luminosity Gaming .

In the first semi-final, Team EnVyUs met G2 Esports . The latter team won the first map de_dust2 with 16:10. On the second map de_inferno, G2 could not use the possibility of reaching the final. In the third extension, Team EnVyUs was able to secure the map with 25:21. With this success behind them, the French also won the third map de_cache with a clearer 16: 7. The second semi-final between the ninjas in pajamas and Natus Vincere was far less exciting. Na'Vi dominated both the first map de_train and the second map de_dust2 and achieved second place in the final with 16: 3 and 16: 6 wins.

The first major final without Swedish participation began with the map selection by Natus Vincere de_train. Here both teams faced each other on an equal footing. Team EnVyUs was able to win this card after a 9: 6 lead at halftime with a narrow 16:14. The French allowed less on their own map choice de_cobblestone. After they were already 10: 5 in the lead after their T half, nV won all remaining rounds on the CT side and thus decided the final with 16: 5. For the organization Team EnVyUs as well as for the players Dan "apEX" Madesclaire and Kenny "kennyS" Schrub it was the first win of a CS: GO major.
