Maps

During the tournament, the teams have seven maps to choose from, which can be played. In the best-of-one mode, both teams can delete two maps each. From the remaining three maps, the map that is ultimately played is selected at random. In the best-of-three mode, both teams will initially delete one map each. Then each side chooses a map, both of which are played in the first two matches. A possible decision map is chosen at random from among the three remaining maps.

The following maps are available:

Preliminary round

Group A

In group A, the fnatic lineup, which is considered the top favorite, prevailed against the Australian team Vox Eminor and the roster of the Ukrainian organization Natus Vincere . Bottom of the group was Flipsid3 Tactics , which suffered clear defeats against both Natus Vincere and Vox Eminor . The second place in the final round of Group A went to Natus Vincere in the game against Vox Eminor . On de_inferno, the Australians had to accept a 1:14 halftime score against securely standing Ukrainians on the T side. Natus Vincere was able to secure victory in the 19th round.

Group B

As expected, Team EnVyUs was able to prevail in group B. The German participant PENTA Sports initially disappointed with a 3:16 defeat against LGB eSports on de_dust2. Only in the lower bracket did PENTA show an appealing performance and sent the French lineup of Titan eSports , which was rated as stronger, home with an aggressive style of play on de_cache. Again playing against LGB eSports on de_dust2, PENTA was able to win this time against the Norwegians 16:12 in the decisive game for progress.

Final round

In the first round of the final game, Team EnVyUs faced Natus Vincere . After a first 12:16 defeat on de_cache, Natus Vincere was able to fight for a 16:14 on de_dust2 with her patient style of play. On the decisive third map de_cbble, however, the Ukrainians could not oppose the EnVyUs team. The French reached the semi-finals with a 16-3 victory. In the second quarter-final game, the German team PENTA Sports competed against fnatic . The German team around newcomer Tobias "Troubley" Tabbert was inferior to the Swedes. Both on de_inferno and on their own map request de_cache, PENTA did not achieve a double-digit number of laps and was eliminated in the quarter-finals. The third game between the Polish team from Virtus.pro and the significantly weaker Brazilians from Keyd Stars turned out to be more exciting than expected. On the keyd Stars de_mirage request map, Virtus.pro initially went as planned with a 16: 4 win. But on their own mappick Keyd Stars was able to withstand the Poles and achieved a 15:15 after 30 laps. It was the first overtime of the tournament. Here the Brazilians decided the map after winning all CT rounds. On the Decidermap de_nuke, Virtus.pro prevailed 16: 1 driven by the chants of the local fans and reached the semi-finals. In the last quarter-final game, the ninjas in pajamas met Team SoloMid . After the favored Swedes from NiP were able to win their map request de_dust2 with 16: 8, they gave the Danes from TSM little resistance to their pick de_inferno and lost there with 4:16. The decision was made on the map de_nuke, which is easier to play for the CT side. After a weak start on the CT side, the ninjas in pajamas were able to take a modest 9-6 lead into the T side. There the Swedish players were able to use their experience and secure a place in the semi-finals in the 28th round.

In the first semi-final, fnatic and Virtus.pro faced each other. First, de_cbble was played on the Sweden's wish map. Driven by domestic support, Virtus.pro achieved an 8: 1 lead, which the Poles were unable to maintain. At halftime, VP was still leading 9: 6. After fnatic took the lead in the second half, the Swedes could not keep it. It was extended. There fnatic turned up on the T-side, won all the rounds there and secured the map. On the request map from VP de_mirage, after a decent seven rounds on the T side, they could not defend the aggressively playing Swedes on the CT side. After just one lap on the CT side, Virtus.pro had to give the Swedes the final place. The Swedish team also prevailed in the second semi-final. The ninjas in pajamas were able to see through many of Team EnVyUs' moves and fend them off. After a 16: 9 win on de_cache, the French's choice of map, and a 16:10 win on their own pick de_dust2, the ninjas in pajamas were the final opponents of fnatic.

In the Swedish final between fnatic and ninjas in pajamas , NiP chose de_dust2 and fnatic de_cache. The decision map should be de_inferno. On de_dust2, fnatic reached a 10: 5 lead on the CT half starting at half time. NiP quickly caught up with fnatic in the second half. Ultimately, fnatic secured the last two rounds and won after 30 rounds with 16:14. As in many of the previous games, the most conspicuous player was Olof "olofm" Kajbjer . On de_cache, the ninjas in pajamas first took a 5: 0 lead on the T side before fnatic caught up and went into halftime with an 8: 7 lead. After half-time, NiP took over again and won most of the remaining rounds. In the end, it was 4:10 p.m. for the ninjas in pajamas. Newcomers Aleksi "allu" Jalli and Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund were able to score the most kills on de_cache. The third and decisive map de_inferno started with several Force Buy rounds won for both teams. Later on, fnatic took over the helm and secured an 11: 4 half-time lead and the following three rounds. With over 10,000 live viewers on site and almost a million viewers on the live stream, the ninjas in pajamas were able to win nine more rounds in the second half, playing on the CT side, before fnatic won the victorious sixteenth round. Olof "olofm" Kajbjer was again the most noticeable player. With this victory, Fnatic is the first team to win two major tournaments .
