Nicolai "dev1ce" Reedtz (also known as device and devve , born September 8, 1995 ) is a Danish e-athlete who became known for his success in the discipline Counter-Strike: Global Offensive . He currently plays for the Danish organization Astralis .
Career
Reedtz first stepped into the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive limelight in 2013 when he won several smaller tournaments with the Copenhagen Wolves and finished 5th to 8th at the DreamHack Winter 2013 . Previously, Reedtz had already reached the round of 16 at the Copenhagen Games 2011 in the discipline Counter-Strike: Source at the age of 15 . After a two-month transition period in which he played for the team via G33KZ , he was signed by the British organization Team Dignitas in February 2014 . The purely Danish quintet, consisting of Reedtz, Henrik “FeTiSh” Christensen (until December 2014), Finn “karrigan” Andersen (since December 2014), René “cajunb” Borg , Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth and Peter “dupreeh” Rothmann celebrated the flag of Dignitas had numerous successes by the beginning of 2015. After just one month, a semi-finals entry at EMS One Katowice 2014 and first place at Fragbite Masters Season 2 could be achieved. At the Copenhagen Games 2014, the team lost in the semi-finals to the ninjas in pajamas .
After further top placements, such as the semi-finals at ESL One Cologne 2014 or the quarter-finals at DreamHack Winter 2014 , the dev1ce team contested its last major tournament under the flag of Dignitas, the MLG X Games Aspen Invitational , in January 2015 which they landed in third place. The lineup switched to the American organization Team SoloMid . At that time, Reedtz was voted 20th best Counter-Strike player in 2014 by hltv.org. With TSM, Reedtz was able to build on his successes at Dignitas and thus also win the 99 Damage Masters I, the Alienware Area 51 Cup # 2, the Game Show CS: GO League Season 2 and the Counter Pit League.
At the end of 2015 the five Danes separated from TSM and continued to play without an organization. In January 2016 the team founded their own organization called Astralis under the direction of Frederik "Realition" Byskov . In January, Reedtz was named the third best Counter-Strike player in 2015 by hltv.org and briefly changed his nickname to devve , but had to reverse this change under pressure from Valve Corporation .
With a K / D rate of 1.22, Reedtz made a decisive contribution to Astralis' first major win at the Eleague Major: Atlanta 2017 .
By the end of 2019, he had won ten important Most Valuable Player Awards.
